Retirements as distractions
I'm not sure if it took our whole focus away when Steve announced that he was going to retire. What it certainly does is create distractions. There's no doubt that yesterday afternoon and today the Indian team would have faced pressure of different distractions than they're used to. Everyone would have wanted to talk about Sourav's retirement. They'll be facing that now for the next four weeks.
Career span of Indian seniors
I'm not sure how it's going to affect individual players. Everything in the press over has indicated that some of these guys might be getting a push in a certain direction. What they won't want to happen is for all of them to go at the same time and leave a huge void in the team. In the next couple of series I'm pretty sure you'll see some of these guys moving on.
Whether he will retire after the series
Boss, I will let you know when my last series is. I am someone who will take a call on that. I am not someone who would like to announce before, I would like to take things as they come. I don't know which newspaper you are taking about. There are millions of newspapers in India so it is very difficult to pinpoint where it has come. I don't like to say yes or no. Let's stop talking about this for now. Lets the players decide when they need to go.
Team before individual
I don't think it is a distraction. It is his personal choice. He has had a fantastic career and I hope that this series would be good for him, not just for him, but Team India as well. That would be the focus because for us the team comes first and then individuals. Our focus would be to go out there and do the job for the team.
