England, after losing the toss, were 39 for one against Pakistan at tea on the first day of the fourth and final Test at Lord's. Alastair Cook was 10 not out and Jonathan Trott eight not out on an opening day marred by bad weather.

England lost Andrew Strauss for 13 after he was bowled by a perfect incoming delivery from Mohammad Asif. The hosts would have been in deeper trouble had Cook not been dropped.
