Rain interrupted play on the second day of the one-off Test between New Zealand and Zimbabwe in Napier on Friday.

New Zealand began the day at 331 for five and advanced to 392 without further loss before the covers were brought out just over an hour into the morning session.

The home team suffered an early setback when captain Ross Taylor was forced to retire hurt with a calf injury on 122, with BJ Watling on 52 not out and Doug Bracewell on 11 when the rain began.
