All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Monday staged a comeback to India’s Test squad after a gap of nearly 14 months as selectors desisted from making wholesale changes to the 16-member squad for the first two matches of the four-Test series against South Africa.
The 26-year-old Jadeja was the only change in the Test squad that had last played against Sri Lanka in the away series in August.
The selectors also made just one change in the ODI squad, bringing in left-arm Karnataka pacer Sreenath Arvind, who made his T20I debut in the recent 0-2 series loss against the Proteas, for Umesh Yadav.
The announcement of the team was made by the BCCI Secretary Anurag Thakur after a meeting of the selection committee headed by Sandeep Patil in New Delhi.
South Africa currently lead the five-match ODI series 2-1, with the fourth and fifth matches to be played in Chennai and Mumbai, respectively. The Test series will begin from November 5 with Mohali, Bengaluru, Nagpur and Delhi as the respective venues.
