With next year's IPL just a few months away, a lot of players are hoping to grab a share of the pie.
Mahesh Rawat is no different. After having spent 3 years with Rajasthan Royals, the Railways 'keeper-batsman missed out last year. But this year, he is trying to get noticed, besides helping Railways get back on track. Rawat scored a quick ton on Wednesday, his second successive at this venue, to bolster the hosts to 379.
"I have scored these runs at decent pace. Hopefully, I'll be back to playing the IPL. But seeing Railways through to quarters is the priority at this moment," he said after the day's play. But Railways, despite having put up a decent total, must be a worried camp. The unfancied Orissa batsmen had already wiped off 108 runs without losing a wicket.
Brief scores: Rlys 379 (M Rawat 103, S Shukla 96); Orissa 108/0 (S Sahoo 60*)
