The pitch at the Ferozeshah Kotla was abuzz with activity as the groundstaff got down to the business of setting the tainted wicket right. Radhey Shyam, the reappointed curator, supervised the levelling of the turf on Friday.

Clay was laid on three turfs including the one where the abandoned ODI was played.

Radhey Shyam, who will be leaving for Dubai on Saturday on a prior commitment (to prepare pitches there), said, “I have given directions to the staff on how to go about the matter and I'll be keeping track of all that is happening. Our job is to get it ready for the IPL and make it a successful pitch with an eye on the World Cup.

“We are hoping that it turns out that way and the world can take notice.”
