If Pataudi's words were not comfort enough, the DDCA can take heart from an assessment David Richardson, the ICC's General Manager, Cricket communicated to the BCCI.
“It is visible that the work undertaken in last six weeks has produce a significant improvement” Richardson wrote in his report, a copy of which is with the Hindustan Times.
“The irregular surface levels have been adjusted by top dressing and levelling, although they are vastly improved, it will require further top dressing to adjust them further. The ongoing renovation of the outfield has begun to remove the build-up of organic matter and to remove a significant amount of weed grass."
Richardson inspected the pitch on February 14 and 15.
