Uttar Pradesh's fate against the Railways was decided on Wednesday evening itself, when they lost opener Tanmay Srivastava for a duck while following on. Their struggle to save the match proved futile on Thursday with Railways notching up a facile innings and 94-run win, at the Mohan Meakins ground. Sharad Deep reports.

This was Railways' first victory this season and the six points from this match took their tally to 10 from five outings. UP, meanwhile, suffered to their first loss. UP's second innings looked like a repeat of the first one with wickets falling on regular intervals. Though overnight batsmen Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Md Kaif started Day 3 on a positive note, stitching together 56 runs for the second wicket, their departure in quick succession opened the floodgates.
