On Sunday morning as the world was still coming to terms with Sachin Tendulkar’s retirement, his son Arjun was packing his kit bag for a practice session at the MIG Cricket Club.
With the emotions attached to his retirement still fresh, Tendulkar spoke of how cricket was ‘oxygen’ to him. It looks like it will be through Arjun’s game that Tendulkar will continue to breathe freshness.

It was learnt that Arjun’s coach, Nakul Parkar, got a call from Anjali in the morning requesting him to hold a practice session for her son, not scheduled originally. “Yes, Arjun practiced here in the morning, he was accompanied by his coach,” confirmed a security guard at the MIG.
Tendulkar was happy with his son’s passion for the game but didn’t want to put any pressure on him. “It was Arjun who chose the cricket bat, he is a passionate boy. That’s what matters,” he said.
Tendulkar added: “I’d say, leave him alone. Please don’t expect him to perform just because his father has. If that would have been the case, I should have had a pen in my hand because my father was a professor and worked in the field of literature.”
He said it was important to let a player decide for himself. “If any player is let free, he is not only able to perform but also able to enjoy. As far as the rest is concerned, I would let the Almighty to decide the script for him.”
