The inaugural inter-state Twenty20 tournament, which kicks off in Ahmedabad and Mumbai from April 15, will have its fair share of star power. Most of the members of India's World Cup team whose state teams will vie for honour are set to play the last tournament of the domestic season.
Sachin Tendulkar, Zaheer Khan and Ajit Agarkar have confirmed their availability for Mumbai while Dinesh Karthik will don the Tamil Nadu colours. Sourav Ganguly is also likely to play for Bengal. "There is a likelihood of Sourav playing for Bengal. The team leaves on Friday, so he may join the team," said Amitava Banerjee, joint secretary of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).India skipper Rahul Dravid will turn out for Karnataka but chairman of selectors Dilip Vengsarkar said no directive was issued to the players in this regard. "They (the international players) haven't played for a long time, since their return from the West Indies, so they are all playing anyway," said Vengsarkar.
The zonal stage had seen MS Dhoni and Virender Sehwag turn up for Jharkhand and Delhi, respectively. Both sides failed to qualify.
