Opener Virender Sehwag has struck an unbeaten century to help India dominate the first two sessions of the first cricket Test against New Zealand.

India reached 243 for one at tea with Sehwag batting on 152 and Rahul Dravid on 61.

It was the 22nd Test hundred for Sehwag, who settled in immediately after India elected to bat on Thursday at the Sardar Patel Stadium.

Sehwag, who was involved in an unbroken 183-run partnership for the second wicket with Dravid, has so far struck 22 fours and a six in a 172-ball innings.

Dravid has struck nine fours off 162 balls.

Top-ranked India is the favorite in the three-Test series, having just beaten Australia 2-0 in a two-Test home series.
