Opener Virender Sehwag will play in Thursday's do-or-die match against Australia according to a media report. The importance of Sehwag playing for India in this all-important game cannot be overstated as he can change the course of the game due to his ability to hit even the best bowl of top rated bowlers out of the park.
The onus of handling the Australian pace attack spearheaded by Brett Lee all lies on the shoulders of openers Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar. Experts are of the opinion that if India can handle the opening pace attack of Australia (10-15 overs ) without losing too many wickets, they will be very much in the game.
Sehwag missed India's last Group B match against West Indies on Sunday following an allergic reaction to an injection on his right knee.
Australia's aura of World Cup invincibility was punctured by Pakistan when they beat the four-times champions on Saturday, ending a 34-match unbeaten run.
However, while that defeat did not have much riding on it since it was a round-robin match, a loss on Thursday will mean Australia will not feature in a World Cup final for the first time since 1992.
