Saying that the ongoing IPL controversy has hit hard the 'spirit of cricket', former India coach John Wright wants the Indian Cricket Board to take action against the wrong-doers.

Wright said he was in favour of transparency in the game and said that the BCCI must intervene and take stern action if anybody found guilty of exploiting the game.

He was in the city today in connection with the promotional event of a company.

Wright though said the IPL tournament has not only made the game more popular but also brought to the forefront the hidden talent which otherwise would have remained in oblivion.

The IPL provided an opportunity to young, relatively unknown players to play shoulder to shoulder with the players of international standard from different countries, he said.
