As you drive to the hotel from the Bandaranaike International Airport, one can't miss the numerous posters put up in every nook and corner of the Sri Lankan capital announcing the Sri Lanka Premier League (SLPL).

On Sunday, fans at the R Premadasa Stadium were treated to a demolition act. And they got one. Wayamba United openers Tamim Iqbal (93*) and Kamran Akmal (79) produced a blazing 176-run opening partnership. The openers made the chase of 180 seem like a breeze as they hit fours and sixes at will, demolishing Uthura Rudra.

Brief scores: Uthura Rudras 179/7 in 20 overs (Imran Farhat 51, I Udana 2/38) lost to Wayamba United 183/1 in 19.2 overs (T Iqbal 93*, K Akmal 79).
