Eleven-year-old Thalassemia Major patient Kushal Patel had a wish — to meet Sachin Tendulkar once in his life. The master blaster not only fulfilled Kushal’s wish on Saturday but also bowled him an over and then introduced him to the entire Indian team.
The initiative was part of Make A Wish Foundation's endeavour to fulfill the wishes of critically ill patients.
“We approached Tendulkar's secretary on Thursday and she got back a day later saying we can meet him on Saturday,” said Foundation's Ahmedabad division co-ordinator Susan Thomas.
Kushal spent about half an hour with Tendulkar in his hotel room and then after practice the world’s leading run scorer bowled a over to Kushal before introducing him to the entire team in the dressing room.
Kushal said Tendulkar also gifted him an autographed India cap while he gave the Indian ace a fountain pen for completing 17000 one day runs.
