The buzz at Indore was that the BCCI had asked the England and Wales cricket Board (ECB) to postpone the start of the Ahmedabad Test by a day to December 12 because of the Champions League final scheduled on December 10. But secretary N Srinivasan did not confirm this.
However, England media manager Andrew Walpole said, "We have had a verbal request from the BCCI to postpone the start of the Ahmedabad Test by a day because of the Champions League final. But nothing official has come to us yet."
A day's delay to the start of the first Test will mean there will be a gap of two days between the end of the first Test and start of the second, to begin in Mumbai on December 19. England's players will have problems in pushing the Mumbai Test back by one day as it would mean the match would end on December 24 instead of December 23. That would stop the players from returning home on December 24, for Christmas.
