S Sreesanth is an avid reader alright but currently his reading interests are quite specific. When HT caught up with the temperamental paceman, he was busy scanning through books on interior decoration at the Kochi airport bookstore as his team Kochi Tuskers Kerala waited to board the flight to Delhi for Monday’s match against Delhi Daredevils. “I’m building a house,” he says.

“Though my parents are taking care of things, it’s the first floor that I’m concerned with,” he adds, checking pictures and various designs for balconies.

So is this house coming up on any of the picturesque waterfronts in Kerala? “Well, we already have a house near the backwaters,” Sreesanth informs. How lucky can that be!

“God’s been kind to us (people of Kerala),” he grins. The floor, his ‘own space’ is over 5000 square feet. All these look like signs of impending marriage? The Kochi boy grins.

“Hey, no, definitely not at the moment,” he says. “I’m seeing someone but definitely not marrying now.”

Live in the present
Apart from flipping through books on building dream homes, what else does he read? “I just pick up anything worth reading,” says Sree. “Everyone says live in the present, and the present for me is 4 and half hour long flight now. So what can be a better way of not wasting the time than reading?” he asks.

Does he read books on cricketers? “I’ve read Dennis Lillee’s autobiography, Menace, and Sunil Gavaskar’s autobiography Sunny Days,” he says.

Kochi might be one of the most beautiful places in the country, and definitely sought after by foreign tourists. But what about the city’s public transport buses which don’t have numbers, or destinations written in English? “Is it?” asks Sree. “Of course it should be (in English), otherwise it will be like being in China,” he laughs.
