Twitteratis baffled after India drop Bhuvneshwar Kumar in second Test vs South Africa

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had picked up the maximum number of wickets and faced most deliveries for Indian cricket team in the first Test against South Africa cricket team

Bhuvneshwar Kumar was dropped for the second Test against South Africa cricket team which began in Centurion on Saturday, and although India did manage to pick up six wickets on Day 1, it baffled quite a few on social media as to why the most successful bowler in the first Test met such a fate. Bhuvneshwar picked up four wickets in the first innings and added another two to his tally to finish with match figures of 6/120 in the opening Test in Cape Town. Besides his efforts with the ball, the lanky right-handed pacer also provided a vital contribution with the bat, scoring 25 off 86 deliveries in the first innings and adding another 13 off 41 deliveries in the second. While the 38 runs might not seem like a tall figure, the grit and determination with which he held fort at one end helped Hardik Pandya open his arms in the first innings, and gave India a glimmer of hope in the second.

He was also the batsman who faced the maximum number of deliveries from the Indian camp in the Test.

However, he surprisingly made way for Ishant Sharma in this Test. The second Test at Centurion doesn’t have too much grass and is expected to be a bouncy wicket unlike the one in Cape Town where the pitch helped bowlers generate enough swing to torment batsmen.

Thus, while Bhuvneshwar might not have received too much of a lateral movement from the deck, it seemed to come as a harsh decision to leave him out of a must-win game.
