The last time the Mumbai Indians played the King’s XI Punjab Sachin Tendulkar’s team fell three short of chasing 120. They were set the same target on Tuesday but there was no repeat of the last debacle.

Opener Dwayne Bravo ensured that the Mumbai Indians’ winning run continued and kept alive their hopes of making the last four as he took his team an eight-wicket win. Bravo’s successive sixes off Sreesanth had Yuvraj looking away in anger.

Mumbai had the game in their control after reducing KXIP to 70 for four in 10 overs. KXIP needed something special from their last hope, Yuvraj Singh, but he fell trying to up the tempo.

Even the shouts of ‘Let’s Go Punjab, Let’s Go’ that reverberated around the Supersport Park failed to pep up the batsmen as Mumbai’s off-spinners had a jolly good time.

While Harbhajan Singh led the way, Duminy and Ajinkya Rahane combined beautifully to check the flow. Mumbai, with everything falling in place from their previous game, did well in the outfield, taking catches, one of which was outstanding by Rohan Raje off Brett Lee, and effecting run outs with direct hits.
