Former India batsman Virender Sehwag’s Twitter success reached a new high on Tuesday as the swashbuckling opener had 10 million people following him on the social networking site. Sehwag celebrated the moment with a short boomerang video where he shows his ten fingers to denote the 10-million mark.
Not one to mince his words, Sehwag has been extremely popular on Twitter since he joined it in November 2009 but has seen a drastic growth only after his retirement. His witty one-liners, short videos and takes on current issues have made him an extremely popular figure and he has not let his fans down.
Of the famous Fab Five, Sehwag is now on No 2 in terms of followers with legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar leading the chart with 16.1million followers. “Thank you to all 1 crore of you for making me #TwitterCrorepati .10 million thanks to all you wonderful people. Love,” Sehwag posted on Tuesday.
Sehwag has also taken digs at senior batsmen and his teammates, all in good humour, and has not spared even Sachin Tendulkar. He, however, has also landed in controversies over a few political and social takes but those are a few exceptions to the otherwise fun-loving Virender Sehwag.
