It was a perfect day for the 50,000-strong crowd which came in looking for entertainment, wearing masks and sporting colourful wigs. And the clash between Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders provided enough excitement.

After restricting defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders to 136, Delhi Daredevils faced early glitches before Unmukt Chand (11) and David Warner (22) keep the scoreboard ticking, the Aussie left-hander smashed unbeaten 66 to guide Delhi home. Virender Sehwag stroked three powerful fours in his 15-ball 17 before edging a regulation catch to Yusuf Pathan at slip off Kallis, after being dropped by rival skipper Gautam Gambhir. DD skipper Mahela Jayawrdene (5) fell cheaply. Everyone wanted to see Gambhir bat, but a mix-up with fellow opener Manvinder Bisla saw him run out without facing a ball.

Daredevils were brilliant on the field. Irfan Pathan took a skier to remove brother Yusuf (20) and Ben Roehrer then took a blinder to get rid of Kallis.

Brief scores: KKR: 136/7 (Bhatia 26no, Yadav 2/36); Delhi: 137/3 (Warner 66no)
