We kept repeating mistakes

It's really hard to pen down my feelings after the last defeat. Whatever little hope we had to make it to the final-four was shattered by another defeat. We are a new team and entered the tournament with high hopes and loads of self-belief. Somehow, this didn't translate into performance on the field.
If you look at the kind of talent we have, it would be hard to understand why we couldn't get the desired result. But cricket is a funny game and all the logic and reasoning doesn't work beyond a point. We are a good team, but each member of the side knows we failed to play as one. Looking at the pattern of our defeats, we can say that we didn't execute our plans and kept repeating the same mistakes.
A hard look at the last game against the Deccan Chargers will show how we didn't raise our game when it mattered. The equation before the game was very simple for us. First, we had to win all three games and then expect some results to go our way. We faltered on the first point. We lost a cluster of wickets and that created pressure on the lower-middle order.
Giving good starts, laying the foundation and getting runs is the job of the top order and, more often than not, we didn't do that. In fact, we lost far too many wickets in the first few overs. Some of the batsmen will have to take the blame for this defeat.
Learning Curve
Each of us is a professional cricketer. I am sure these 45 days will be a learning curve and all of us will emerge stronger and better. In every adversity, there is an opportunity and smart cricketers don't take time to learn from mistakes.
I would like to thank our franchisee who've invested a lot in us but didn't get the desired results. It's nice to see that they are fully behind us, and with their support and encouragement we should overcome this tough time.
One thing I would say about my group is that we are a well-knit unit and enjoyed each other's company. That gives me a big reason to believe that things will change sooner than later. We have nothing to lose and the last two games will give us the perfect opportunity to show that we are a much better side.
