Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist on Wednesday blamed inconsistent batting for his team's back-to-back defeats and hoped the mistakes would be rectified against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League in Kolkata on Thursday.

The defending champions had lost their inaugural match to Kolkata to begin their campaign on a disappointing note, but Gilchrist said they are not taking the return game as a revenge match.

"I do not see our match against KKR as a revenge match. Rather, I would term it as a match where we should rectify the mistakes we made in the previous matches," Gilchrist said.

Drawing parallel between both the teams, the former Australian wicketkeeper said, "Like us, KKR has also been a bit inconsistent with their performance. They have had some good performances and some forgettable ones. So we can expect a good fight tomorrow."

"We have been a little bit inconsistent but it's not the case that our batting is only dependent on me. It's just that no one is getting a big score.

"Some are getting 50s but they need to carry on. It's no secret that irrespective of the format, you need to preserve wickets."

He said there is no sure shot formula to succeed in the Twenty20 format.

"Various teams having various theories about the approach in T20 games. Some feel that one needs to attack during Powerplays some believe in attacking at the death.

"But there's no formula like during the 1996 World Cup when Sanath Jayasuriya and Romesh Kaluwithrana attacked in the first 15 overs in every match," he said.

Asked whether they would bring in VVS Laxman on his favourite venue of Eden Gardens, Gilchrist said they would decide about it tomorrow.
