Having impressed one and all with his pace and the ability to move the ball during his two Tests and ODIs each against West Indies, Umesh Yadav is expected to play a crucial role during India’s forthcoming tour Down Under.
And the pacer is looking forward to making optimum use of the extra week he will get to prepare in Australia ahead of the big challenge. Yadav, as reported by HT on Sunday, will leave for Australia with six other teammates from Mumbai on Thursday, four days ahead of the rest of the party.
“I will get enough time to practise and get used to the conditions there. Hopefully I will be able to make the required adjustments in my line and length there,” Yadav said on the eve of India’s third ODI against West Indies on Monday.
Yadav, who toured Australia in August as part of India’s Emerging Players squad, was also looking forward to bowling in the home country of Glenn McGrath, his idol.
“I have followed McGrath’s bowling since my early years,” said the 24-year-old from Nagpur.
“There is no way I can achieve what he has done. But if I can bowl as consistently as him over a period of time, that would be a great achievement.”
