Remember Mongoose bat? The bat that was all handle and little body, made famous by Matthew Hayden in the last IPL season, is nowhere to be seen in the CLT20. It looks the bat too has retired with Matthew Hayden, who was probably its only serious user. The big left-hander gave the bat its best moment under the sun when he smashed a swashbuckling 93 against Delhi Daredevils with the little thing.

The bats has disappeared from even the practice sessions of the Chennai Super Kings, the team Hayden plied his trade for in the IPL. “I have never used it. It could be effective on low and slow wickets, but I am not sure how effective it could be for playing horizontal bat shots,” said CSK batsman S Badrinath. “That no one is using it now shows it could have been just a gimmick,” said Ben Rohrer, an NSW batsman.
