Speedster Shaun Tait spared Australia's blushes in the only T20 match against Pakistan and helped complete a whitewash of the visitors. After a 3-0 blanking in the Tests and a 5-0 sweep in the ODIs Pakistan's cup of woe spilled over as they ended their tour down under without a win.
After Australia managed to put just 127 on the board it required a burst from Tait that included the fastest recorded ball on Australian soil - a 160.7 kmh thunderbolt - to sneak a 2-run win. Tait snared 3 for 13 from 4 overs, including the crucial wicket of Kamran Akmal (64) as Pakistan imploded. Umar Akmal contributed 21, but none of the others got past 10.
"Amazing performance with the ball and I thought in the field as well. The guys did really well," said skipper Michael Clarke soon after the game. “The Wild Thing (Tait), it' great to have him back in the team and bowling like that he led from the front.”
Brief Scores: Australia 127 all out in 18.4 overs (D Hussy not out 47, M Clarke 32; U Gul 3 for 20) beat Pak 125 for 9 in 20 overs (K Akmal 64, U Akmal 21; S Tait 3-13, S Watson 2-24, S Smith 2-34) by 2 runs.
