Chanderpaul likely in test squad
There seems to be some truce between the West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul and the national Cricket Board (WICB), with the veteran cricketer likely to be named in the Test squad for the series against Pakistan, starting next week.
Although, there has been no official announcement on the national Test squad yet but media reports say Chanderpaul will be included in the side.
Chanderpaul, whose performance in the World Cup was below par, was axed from the One-day series against Pakistan but that did not go down well with the batsmen.
He was involved in war of words with the WICB's Chief Executive Officer Ernest Hilaire over the treatment meeted out to him. Chanderpaul had earlier claimed that the selection committee wanted him to retire after the World Cup but when he refused to oblige, and therefore dropped from the squad.
He also said that he got extremely disheartened by Hilaire's comments that in the last 15 years, the West Indies team had failed to show discipline and application.
The Test squad, meanwhile, will also include the fast bowler Fidel Edwards, who has not played for the national team since the tour of England in mid-2009. Besides, an uncapped 18-year-old batsman Kraigg Brathwaite is also expected to be named.
