Harbhajan Singh has been handed another chance by the selectors, and that could be the first step in his bid to re-establish himself in the India squad. But it's easier said than done.

Much has happened since the 0-4 Test series rout in England last year. An injury forced him out of the Nottingham Test and he was subsequently dropped.

Bhajji had a useful stint in the English County but has not taken wickets otherwise. So, the selection left the spinner delighted.

Good news
"This is big news for me, making a comeback after almost a year. Though I played the World T20, this is where I want to be. I have again been given an opportunity to play for India in whites and I can't wait to get there and be part of the squad," Bhajji said, after captaining Punjab to an innings win against Hyderabad at the PCA Stadium on Monday.

The team has moved on since the disastrous tours of England and Australia.

R Ashwin has eased into Bhajji's position with left-arm spinner Pragyan Ohja playing the support role well.

That means Bhajji will have to wait for an opening. He admitted he was not on top of his bowling but said the last 12 months had helped him re-focus on his game.

Unfair criticism
"A few things were not working for me. I was not bowling well; you can't have a great season all the time. I was also struggling with injury but people see you from a different angle. There are expectations, I won't say that is unfair, but I have heard and seen a lot of unnecessary criticism. But I got time to analyse my game," he said.

Bhajji said despite the tough times he was not the sort who would quit.

"Sometimes things get tough, but I don't get frustrated by what is being written or said about me. I was working hard then and I am doing that now."

Like skipper MS Dhoni, Bhajji also was in favour of turning wickets.

"We can't have a situation where it has something for the pacers or batsmen only. We need to have wickets where on the first day pacers get assistance and by the second or the third day spinners come into play.
