Two alternate venues, one of them South Africa, for the IPL will be up for discussion at the BCCI working committee meeting in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
According to a highly placed official with the BCCI, they could be placed before the working committee for consideration. Though no final decision will be taken on Friday, the IPL governing council would be given the responsibility to work out the final details once the dates of the general elections are announced.
As of now it looks like that at least three weeks of the tournament could be held in India. "We have been informed by the home ministry that they can't provide security to the IPL before May 11. So the IPL is likely to return to India only then," said a BCCI official. The UAE has been doing the rounds but South Africa looks like the frontrunner.
Other agenda include finance committee and IPL governing council meeting. The inspection report of the JSCA stadium of Ranchi is also likely to be submitted at the meeting which should take it closer to getting Test centre status.
