The body of the girl, allegedly abducted by Mohit (her neighbour), on Sunday night in Roorkee, was found on Monday, they said.
Mohit took the girl with him on some pretext while she was standing outside her grandmother’s house, police said. When he failed to rape her, he tried to kill
her by strangulating her, they added.
According to police, the autopsy report of the victim has confirmed that the accused had attempted to rape the girl.
On the complaint of victim’s father Ajay Kumar, the police registered the case against 25-year-old Mohit under sections 302, 201, 113, 376 & 366 (A) of Indian
Penal Code and have produced him before a court on Tuesday.
“At first, we believed that Mohit only murdered the victim but post-mortem report has confirmed that he did not only kill her but had made attempts to rape her
too,” said SP (rural) Ajay Singh.
The accused had strangulated her and disfigured her face with the help of bricks.
Police arrested Mohit, father of a three-year-old child who runs a hair saloon in Krishna Nagar locality, on the information that the girl was seen last in the
company of Mohit.
