The controversy over the return of horticulture ministry to state tourism minister Amrita Rawat may get over after Lok Sabha polls on May 7.
Chief minister (CM) Harish Rawat is likely to return the ministry to Amrita Rawat. Sources in the Congress party said All India Congress Committee (AICC) state in-charge Rajiv Shukla along with his two co-in-charges Sanjay Kapoor and Lal Singh Chaudhary met Amrita Rawat at the latter’s residence and discussed the issue in detail on Thursday.
They also tried to extract information about her husband and former Lok Sabha MP Satpal Maharaj’s decision to leave Congress and join the Bharatiya Janata Party.
During the discussion Amrita Rawat informed Shukla that it was an unnecessary controversy raked by the opposition.
She told Shukla that there was nothing illegal about subsidy availed for horticulture activities by the nursery owned by her.
After the discussion Shukla and his associates claimed the controversy to be a fabricated one, intentionally raked up to malign her image.
Shukla also stated that he will speak to Rawat about it and will ensure that she is given the ministry back after the polls.
Of late Amrita Rawat is keeping herself aloof from party-related activities as a part of her protest after re-allotting the ministry to her colleague Harak Singh Rawat by the chief minister.
