Angry with Bahuguna, Cong cadres working against Saket in Tehri

Groups of local Congress leaders who are unhappy with party candidates are conducting a misinformation campaign in Tehri and Pauri Lok Sabha constituencies, party sources said.
Well-informed sources in the Congress claimed that sabotage from within the organisation is going on secretly mainly in hill areas of the two parliamentary constituencies.
Tehri candidate Saket Bahuguna faces the heat of subversive activities of Congressmen in five state assembly constituencies in hill areas.
These are Tehri, Dhanolti, Purola, Uttarkashi and Yamunotri assembly constituencies. Detractors in these constituencies have grudges against Saket.
They alleged that they were not given due respect in his father Vijay Bahuguna’s government.
A Congress leader said on the condition of anonymity, “It must be known that Congress candidates won all hill assembly constituencies in 2012 bypoll despite losing every assembly segment in plain areas. But the Congress government failed to honour Congress leaders of hill areas. Important ministerial berths were given to leaders from plain areas though the leaders in hill areas made efforts for Saket Bahuguna in 2012 bypoll.”
This Congress leader did not disclose if he was active against Saket Bahuguna, but he admitted that a section of party workers was engaged in ensuring defeat of the Congress nominee.
A similar situation exists in Pauri parliamentary segment where the Congress candidate and state cabinet minister Harak Singh Rawat is doing his best to reach out to as many voters as possible.
Harak’s main opposition is said to be in Rudraprayag and Chamoli districts besides Kotdwar area of Pauri. A sizeable section of Congress workers in Rudraprayag assembly constituency is going all out to ensure the defeat of Congress candidate.
Incidentally Harak Singh Rawat is the sitting MLA from here and his supporters are trying to ensure his victory.
Rawat’s detractors in Rudraprayag are either silent, inactive or are engaged in subversive campaign against him. Rawat is also trying to win over mid-June disaster victims of Kedarnath, Gangotri and Srinagar assembly segments.
It’s interesting that Congress had won highest 11 out of 14 assembly constituencies in Pauri constituency.
