Dehradun: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tehri candidate Mala Rajlaxmi Shah plans to file her nomination papers on April 13, though 13 is usually considered to be an unlucky number. Her astrologers seem to have advised her to do so.

Shah will file her papers in the capital between 10.30 am and 12 noon on that day. Neelam Seghal, BJP Dehradun city incharge told Hindustan Times, “Maharani ji will file her nomination on April 13. It is believed to be an unlucky number. But I am sure her priests would have advised her to file nomination on that day. We received her schedule and are now making preparations accordingly.”

Party members are revamping the city office as the main office for Tehri constituency. Besides, in all 14 assembly constituencies, one office each will be set up. In addition, party members were also given responsibility of assembly constituencies. In this regard, Trilok Singh Bisht, Ravindra Kataria, Ganesh Joshi and Vinay Goyal were made Lok Sabha convener for Raipur, Rajpur, Mussoorie and Cantt assembly constituencies. Besides, these conveners were provided teams to facilitate smooth working.

Sharing about their plan, Chamanlal Valmiki, city office incharge said, “We will perform a small havan in our city office on April 13. The havan will be performed for seeking blessings from God. Thereafter, Maharani will go to file nomination. This programme is all set and we are arranging for the rally on that day.”

The office-bearers have also made it clear that the party will hire only a single open jeep to escort Shah. As the party will have to follow Mode Code of Conduct (MCC) so it will not hire additional vehicles. Supporters, however, are allowed to bring personal vehicles.
Seghal said the party will stick to the MCC. Prakash Suman Dhyani, BJP state spokesperson said, “We will make sure not to violate MCC in any constituency. We will also have to show expenditure and thus, we will keep check on expenses. Besides hiring vehicle for candidate, we will not hire vehicles for other party members. We are requesting them to walk during the rally instead of bringing vehicles.”

Pertinently, Shah won LS by-polls in 2012 with a slight margin of 22,000 votes defeating Congress candidate and former chief minister Vijay Bahuguna’s son, Saket Bahuguna.
