Chandigarh: ITBP jawan who killed senior in Mussoorie surrenders

ITBP jawan Chandrashekhar who had shot dead senior sub-inspector Surendra Lal at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) in Mussoorie on Friday surrendered before the Chandigarh police at Sector 36 on Sunday morning.

Chandrashekhar was absconding with the gun he used for shooting at Lal and injuring another jawan Akhtar Husseain present on the spot. Lal died on the sport while Akhtar was recuperating in the hospital.

However, Shekhar was not carrying the gun at the time of surrender. Mussoorie police have begun a search for ammunition at nearby locations.

According to the IG Garhwal, Sanjay Gunjyal, Dehradun Police was informed about the accused jawan's surrender and a team of local police was set to go Chandigarh to bring back the Himanchal native accused ITBP jawan.

"The absconding jawan has surrendered in Chandigarh. A team of Uttarakhand police will soon set out for Chandigarh to bring him back," said Gunjyal.
