A day before its planned protest against the state government on Thursday, the Congress has announced to continue its tirade against the BJP on its “false electoral promise” to waive off the farmer loans in Uttarakhand.

Addressing a meeting of the Congress district presidents in Dehradun on Wednesday, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Pritam Singh said Congress will not go back on its diatribe to expose the BJP on its promise to waive off the loan of farmers. “Why did BJP make misleading electoral promise if the state government has decided not to honour it?” he questioned. The Congress president alleged the government’s decision betrayed the common man and farmers, who had great hopes from the promises made by the BJP.

Later, speaking to media persons on sidelines of the PCC meeting, Singh said Congress will do everything to expose BJP and its government before the people of Uttarakhand. “Government has been exposed within 100 days of its working,” he said. “It’s sad that cases of famer suicides in Uttarakhand are rising, but government is unwilling to accept the reality. It’s still a non-starter in developmental works,” he added.

Singh asked the district Congress presidents to extend full support to the All India Congress Committee -nominated district returning officer in conduction of the organisational polls in Uttarakhand. He appealed to the party leaders to remove their differences and join hands to fight against the BJP and expose the state government on its hollow promises made during elections.
