Dehradun: The forest department has decided to seize an overcoat allegedly made of leopard skin from Devyani Singh, wife of controversial Khanpur legislator Pranav Singh ‘Champion’.

Devyani had recently triggered a row by posting some photographs on Facebook in which she was seen wearing the overcoat at a public place.

The forest department, however, could not confirm if the coat was indeed made of leopard skin. “We will certainly seize the coat... it will be sent to the Wildlife Institute of India for testing,” forest secretary Manoj Chandran told HT.

Wildlife Crime Control Bureau has also sent a letter to the forest department, saying, “A visual of the Facebook post and copy of the photograph are enclosed herewith for your information and requisite action.” A copy of the letter is with HT.

Chief wildlife warden SS Sharma, however, said he did not receive any letter. “I can only comment after going
through the letter.”

Pranav is no stranger to controversies. Last year, his name figured in a firing incident at Harish Rawat’s residence in Dehradun.
