Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Congress on Monday alleged that the Trivendra Singh Rawat government is now hatching plan to dismantle the highest cooperative body of state Uttarakhand Cooperative Federation (UCF) presently headed by the elected members of the opposition party.

Speaking to the media in Dehradun, UCF chairman Pramod Kumar Singh and PCC president Pritam Singh condemned the decision of the state government to dissolve 97 primary cooperative societies that are basic units of electing the federation directors and its chairman and alleged that government is hell bent upon dissolving it despite by hook or by crook.

They stated that government wants to put in place an administrator first by turning the 14 member UCF in minority followed by building a case for dislodging chairman.

Pramod Kumar Singh said despite their all efforts to frame federation and its office bearers in legal cases and expel them unceremoniously the BJP government and its cooperative minister have miserably failed.

He said earlier the government and cooperative department officials tried to frame federation’s two affiliate pharmaceuticals for doling out Rs 17 crore as commissions to its market agents but withdrew after initial moves knowing the fate of their move.

“Prior to that the cooperative minister ordered probe intentionally to pick faults in the working of cooperative societies and cancel their membership with federation but failed to do so for all societies were working satisfactorily.

“Having failed in their repeated nefarious designs now government has resorted to cancel the affiliation of 97 cooperative societies from 10 districts under the pretext that these are not sales or purchase cooperative but marketing bodies. This is absurd decision taken in the grab of arrogance of power” said the UCF chairman.

Meaning of sales and purchase and marketing for agricultural purposes is construed at par and cooperative bodies are running under similar titles in other states as well.

“We had been consistently saying that BJP government is in hurry to dislodge the elected government bodies held by Congressmen and this is yet another move in the same directions. They don’t have faith in simple principles of democracy. State government is in tearing hurry to dismantle the UCF and other bodies headed by the Congress men.”
