A forest department team managed to capture a leopard that had entered a Nainital house on Saturday noon, barely a week after another wild cat troubled honeymooners in a hotel in the city.

Lal Singh Kuliyaal, a resident of Jangaliya village -- about 40 kms from Nainital -- said he woke up at 3:40 am to let his dog out. But the dog rushed back as the leopard was chasing him, said Kuliyal.

He immediately closed the door and informed the villagers but the four-year-old female leopard had killed the dog by then.

The wild cat was locked in a room but the cage could not be placed. The tranquilliser team from the Nainital high-altitude zoo reached the spot and cut the door.

The department placed the cage at the other end of the door and got hold of the leopard after 12 hours.

On early Sunday, a leopard broke into the hotel room of a young couple in Nainital. But the big cat didn’t attack the couple and took refuge in the bathroom.
