The Uttarakashi district administration has asked the disaster management department and the irrigation department to keep an eye on the water level of Bhagirathi river after Tuesday's rains that resulted in increase in the water level.

The Joshyara water barrage recorded 230 cusec of water. Uttarkashi town and parts of the district had witnessed massive loss to property and human lives after mid June rains last year. The widespread floods left locals in panic.

A year after the locals are still horrified. However the weather comparatively remained good on Wednesday. The state metrological department has predicted possibility of light to moderate rains in parts of state in next 24 hours.

State Met director Anand Sharma told HT that isolated places particularly in Kumaon region could witness more than moderate rains.
