A 27-year-old journalist working with an international broadcasting company has accused her colleague, a cameraman, of molesting her at her Lajpat Nagar I house on Monday night.

Police arrested Tahseen Haider Jafri, also accused of stalking and threatening the complainant, on Thursday after a case was registered at the Lajpat Nagar police station on Wednesday night.

A senior police officer said the complainant, who is married and lives in a rented accommodation, said her colleague Jafri came to her house on Monday around 8pm to drop a suitcase he had got from office.

"She said Jafri asked for a glass of water. He then pinned her down and forced himself on her. She pushed him off and shouted at him," the officer said.

The woman told the police that she didn't report the matter as Jafri had threatened her.

"She said Jafri later sent a message on her mobile phone admitting to his mistake. He also requested her not to tell anybody about the incident," the officer said.

On Wednesday evening, the woman was coming out of her office after work when Jafri allegedly started following her and tried to forcefully talk to her.

"Since the woman lives alone, she got scared and decided to report the matter to the police. We immediately registered a case under sections 354 (molestation), 354A (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and arrested Jafri," added the officer.
