Dengue cases crossed the 1,000-mark in Delhi with 10 fresh cases of the vector-borne disease reported on Monday. Even as the authorities said they expected a downward trend over the next few days, the numbers seem to be slowly growing.

“The total number of dengue cases has reached 1,009 with 10 more patients testing positive in the last 24 hours,” Municipal Health Officer (MCD) N.K. Yadav.

“There are 13 cases in which the infection has been contracted from outside Delhi.”

The city has reported nearly 380 cases of dengue in the last 12 days alone even as the mercury was dipping.

The civic agency was expecting to see a drop in the number of cases with increasing cold.
