The special cell of the Delhi Police have arrested a 26-year-old man for allegedly trying to rob those involved in cricket betting in Uttam Nagar. The arrested has been identified as Pradeep Kumar.

"One of the employees of the betting syndicate gave a tip to one of the co-accused Kamal that various punters visit their den with a lot of money and could be potential target. Kamal conspired with Pradeep, who in turn contacted two of his associates, Daulat and Pramod," said Arun Kampani, deputy commissioner of police (special cell).

On March 16, at about 11:00pm, the writer of the satta book informed Kumar that two people had just left the betting venue with money. Kumar, along with five other robbers on two motorcycles and armed with two knives and a country-made pistol, was waiting for the duo. "They apprehended two people, who were going on their motorcycle and mistook them to be punters with the satta money," Kampani said.

They chased the two and on interception, asked them to hand over the betting money.

"When the victims Sonu and Nadeem said they were not into betting, they were stabbed several times with the knives," added Kampani.
