First, they beheaded his body. Then, they dumped the head and other body parts at various spots. This gruesome murder took place because the deceased had asked one of the accused to return the money he had lent the latter.

The killing of retired BSF officer Layak Ram was planned by one Pawan Mittal alias Bitto, along with his driver Roop Chand and another employee Shatrughan.

Delhi Police have now arrested Pawan Mittal alias Bitto for killing Layak Ram, 45, a resident of Dharam Pura in Najafgarh, whose headless body was found in Jhandewalan on June 25.

“He (Layak Ram) retired from BSF and was in the business of lending money. He had lent money to Pawan Mittal — the main accused in the murder,” said Vivek Kishore, DCP (central). “Mittal took a loan from him at a high rate of interest and was unable to pay back the amount on time. Layak Ram would levy a fine of R150 per day per R1,000 on the amount,” Kishore added.

Police said the victim had been pressurising Pawan to return his money. “We have arrested Roop Chand. The other two will be arrested soon,” Kishore added.

The accused dumped the head and clothes of the deceased in a canal near Kanjhawala and his body in Jhandewalan.
