The statistics may by surprising, but the Delhi Police cracked hard on their own personnel and took disciplinary actions against 10,800 police personnel, a whopping 740% increase from 2010. In 2010, only 1,303 police personnel faced disciplinary actions, ranging from dismissal to seeking explanation on charges of corruption and dereliction of duty.

The report showed that 162 police personnel, including eight sub-inspectors, were dismissed from service last year. The services of two out of 162 were summarily terminated. While no DCP figured in the list of 2010, one DCP was asked to give explanation in 2011.

In 2011, a total of 1,025 policemen were awarded major punishments such as forfeiture of service (634), reduction in pay (22) and withholding increments (205). Another 1,815 personnel were censured. Departmental enquiries were initiated against 1,586 policemen while 492 were suspended.
