Ten people have been booked for fraudulently selling off a one-acre plot owned by an NRI in Gurgaon. The accused include a senior revenue department official, a lawyer and a local Congress leader.

The plot worth over Rs 30 crore lies in Narsigpur village and was sold to a Gurgaon-based family when the owner was travelling to France in 2001. The accused managed to not only sell the land but also get a change of land usage done from the Haryana Government for constructing a hotel.

Complainant Sunil Sood has stated that he came to know of the sale during his recent visit to India. He has accused his brother, a close friend and government officials, amongst others, of conniving to sell off his land.

The Badshahpur police had registered a criminal case of forgery and cheating. No arrests have been made so far.
