10-year-old boy rescued, four kidnappers arrested

A 10-year-old boy, kidnapped four days ago, was rescued following the arrest of four persons, including a distant relative of the victim, who had demanded a ransom of Rs 30 lakh, police said on Tuesday.
The arrested were identified as Sandeep Kumar (24), the relative, Sunil (26), Vishwas (20) and Phool Singh (28).
The boy was kidnapped on April 24 evening when he went to fetch milk. Locals saw two men forcibly taking him on a motor cycle and police was informed.
During investigation, it came to light that the grandfather of the kidnapped boy had received retirement funds six months ago.
"Sandeep, one of the distant relatives of the family,was acting suspiciously. He was confronted and later he confessed to the kidnapping," a senior police official said.
"He hatched a plan to kidnap the boy about four months ago when he came to know about the payment of huge amount of money to the grandfather and he was aware of the financial status of the uncle and father also," the official said.
Following Sandeep's interrogation, police conducted a raid in Sabka village and the boy was rescued.
Sandeep runs a tent shop while Sunil is a sweeper in a government hospital in Roorkee. Vishwash is a labourer while Phool Singh is engaged in farming.
