The outer Delhi police on Saturday arrested three persons who would allegedly steal cars and sell their spare parts after dismantling them at their garage in Aman Vihar.
One of those arrested, identified as Pradeep Kumar, ran a travel agency in Uttam Nagar where he allegedly used stolen cars as cabs.
The other suspected auto-lifters were identified as Mukesh Singh and Prem Chand. Both of them had worked as drivers at a cell phone service provider, police said.
BS Jaiswal, DCP (outer), said the three were arrested by a team from the Aman Vihar police station. A stolen Maruti Omni, a country made pistol and four live cartridges were seized from them.
“Their interrogation led to the recovery of 11 cars which they had stolen from various areas in the city in the recent past. During interrogation, Singh revealed that after quitting his job, he purchased a car to use as a taxi but suffered heavy losses. His financial condition worsened and he shared his problem with Kumar,
who suggested that they form a gang and start committing vehicle thefts,” said Jaiswal, adding they involved Prem Chand because he was also in need of money.
