13-year-old held for ‘raping’ child

A 13-year-old boy has been held for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl from his neighbourhood in Govindpuri area of southeast Delhi, reports Vijaita Singh.

A 13-year-old boy has been held for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl from his neighbourhood in Govindpuri area of southeast Delhi.

The boy lured the child, who was playing near her home, to a desolated area of a nearby and reportedly raped her. After assaulting the girl, he attacked her private parts with a blade.

“The girl started shouting and soon a crowd gathered at the scene. The boy was beaten up and a call was made to the police control room,” said a senior police officer.

The boy had sniffed a “whitener” and was intoxicated and barely able to speak when he was caught.

“She was writhing in pain and was bleeding profusely. We rushed her to hospital,” said the officer. The juvenile lives in her neighbourhood.

The girl is battling for her life at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. The incident was reported two days ago

The teenager was produced in a juvenile court and has been sent to a protection home for the next 14 days. The police has not registered a case as it is prohibited under The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act.
