These roads are potholed and will get waterlogged in no time, holding up traffic for hours.
"Waterlogging clubbed with bad roads reduces space for the vehicles and in few cases, speed is reduced to zero," said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic). "We want traffic to keep moving and for this, it is advisable for commuters to avoid certain stretches we have identified."
The Ring Road, Outer Ring Road, Mathura Road, Aurobindo Marg, Old Gurgaon Road, GT Karnal Road, Mathura Road and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road are among those identified as 'commuters' nightmare'.
Drivers are denied half the road during monsoon after water accumulates. Space meant for four cars is reduced to that for two, causing jams, said a traffic police official.
The roads desperately need repair, but it may be difficult as monsoon has set in. The civic bodies have their hands full. They’re busy cleaning drains — a major cause of waterlogging.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi is responsible for most of the 150 roads. The public works department is responsible for the remaining.
