A school dropout and his juvenile accomplice were arrested for their alleged involvement in nine cases of chain snatching and motor vehicle thefts in south Delhi’s Saket, police said on Thursday.

Chhaya Sharma, deputy commissioner of police (south), said the apprehension of Jaipal, 20, and his juvenile accomplice, both of whom hail from northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri, came after an operation aiming to zero-in and neutralise young criminals from the trans-Yamuna area active in her district.

“Specially-constituted teams arrested Jaipal, who works as a cobbler near the Red Fort and also apprehended the juvenile from near the Pushp Vihar Market, while the duo were on a stolen motorcycle with a fake number plate,” said DCP Sharma.
